Tinder’s New Global Mode Will Help You Find Matches Worldwide!
Dating app, Tinder has announced it is testing a new “Global Mode” where it will allow its users to search and fall in love without the leash of geography. The mode will allow users’ profiles to show up around the world, regardless of their location.
Global Mode is free and similar to Tinder’s Passport Mode which allows users to pick a location to swipe in. Passport Mode usually would limit users to a 100-mile range when searching for matches and comes at a cost.
According to Engadget, Tinder says that it is rolling out Global Mode in response to demand from Gen Z users.
“Our Gen Z members have been telling us for some time they want to meet people across the globe, and our new world order, paired with our distinctive global scale, solidifies that demand. We already had plans to open geographic filters, and now we’ve accelerated them,” a Tinder spokesperson said to Engadget.

Tinder says the COVID-19 pandemic had hastened its timeline for removing the geographic filters.
The company is also working on launching one-on-one video chats, virtual dates as well as interactive features like an in-app trivia, which it says it will release soon.
The app said it saw more swipes on 29th March 2020 than on any other day in its history. Tinder claims that over three billion swipes were recorded.
Global mode certainly is Tinder’s manner of acknowledging a virtual world and making it a reality for those seeking to go into relationships.
