ByteDance the parent company of video-sharing app TikTok has started licensing TikTok’s AI to other companies according to a report by Financial Times.
For this purpose, the company has created a shoot-off from the ByteDance brand, “BytePlus” the new branch website has a client list of Wego, Lark, GOAT, and Chilibeli among others.
Byteplus is offering services such as augmented reality through its Byteplus effects, translation tools through Byteplus Machine Translation; and a recommendation engine via Byteplus Recommend.
Another service rendered is analytics and testing capabilities through its DataRangers feature.
TikTok has been a massive hit as a result of its recommendation algorithm; and this is what the parent company is selling to clients in the form of Byteplus.

The algorithms suggest content on the App based on user interactions, in a blog post, TikTok explained each person’s feed is unique and tailored to them. The For You feed recommends content based on video information such as captions, sounds, and hashtags. User interactions such as who they follow, comments they post, and the content they create influence their feed.
Even user’s device and account settings such as language preference; country settings; and device type to a lesser level influence user’s feed as well. TikTok’s Algorithms (BytePlus) is the real deal, even travel booking website Wego was able to improve the relevancy of its search results by 40%, hence increasing the percentage of users who made a purchase.
