These Coronavirus Times: See How Your Smartphones Can Get You Through Social Distancing

Several countries around the world have mandated that citizens practice social distancing and while this requires adapting, your smartphone can help staying safe in a time of coronavirus a bit easier.

For introverts, adjusting to this kind of life may not be as difficult as it will be for extroverts. While many are finding ways to cope with working from home, their social life may suffer.

Below, we mention some of what many around the world are doing with their smartphones to make the coronavirus social distancing period easier.

— Staying in touch: while this is not new, it may be more important at this time. Your friends and family need to be aware of how you are coping and what better way to tell them than by staying in touch regularly? There are many ways to reach out to people including voice/video calls, chats and regularly engaging each other on social media.

— Follow trends and hashtags: you may feel like you are missing out on the most fun as you are confined in your personal space. This should not be the case when you are connected to the rest of the world via the internet. To keep up, just follow the most talked about topics and most used hashtags.

For example, on Twitter, many are using the tag #athometogether. With this, you get to see how others in the same condition as you are coping.

— Enjoy music concerts: showing solidarity with others, many singers have chosen to perform their popular songs from their homes. For example, John Legend and Coldplay’s Chris Martin have thrilled fans with some of their most popular songs already. They are using the tag #athometogether and many more singers are expected to join soon. From your phone, you could be seeing your favourite artiste perform for free.

— Get helpful tips: these helpful tips do not stop here. Many people are providing tips on what is working for them online. With your smartphone, you can get lots of information that will get you through the coronavirus isolation times.

While China is getting a grip on the coronavirus spread, other parts of the world are not doing so well. Cases are spiking in Europe and appearing in Africa. Many authorities are advising social distancing. Companies are telling workers to work remotely.
