The Perfume That Smells Like Space, Eau De Space Goes On Sale
Ever wonder what space smells like? Well, soon you’ll be able to find out as some people are putting money together to make, a fragrance they call “Eau de Space,” available. It will allow you to smell just like in space.
The organisers of the campaign say that NASA had already developed the fragrance decade ago for astronaut training. They claim NASA developed the fragrance to give the pilots the idea of what it smells like outside earth. And to eliminate all surprises.
The campaign claims that NASA had the simulated fragrance for years. They add that they’ve got hands on it.
“Through sheer determination, grit, a lot of luck, and a couple of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, we got it out. Now we need your help to mass manufacturer it so that everyone can experience the Smell of Space for themselves,” the organiser wrote on the fundraising page.

On the Kickstarter page, its initial goal was $1,969 and the page says it won’t be releasing Eau de Space without reaching the goal. The campaign has now raised well over that amount with the current count at over $331,000 as of Monday, 6th July 2020. The campaign also has almost 7,500 backers.
The website says that the ultimate goal of the fundraising is “to increase [interest in] STEM through experiential education.”
Eau de Space’s product manager, Matt Richmond, told CNN that he hopes Eau du Space will start the discussion about STEM, while parents, teachers, and scientists will also continue it.
At the moment, you can purchase a bottle of Eau de Space on Kickstarter with $29. That will get you about a 100g bottle and also a donation to a local K-12 STEM program. Eau de Space is scheduled to begin shipping in September 2020.
