The Biggest Announcements From Google’s Pixel 6 Pro/6 Event

Here are the biggest announcements from Google’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro launch event on October 19 2021, which saw the official release of its flagship phones. The virtual event started exactly at 10 AM Pacific Time and 1 PM Eastern Time. Google had a live stream available on its Pixel Fall Launch landing page and YouTube.

Google announced two new smartphones, the flagship 6 pro and the regular 6. It also announced its new silicon custom made Tensor chip and new features for the 6. The Pro version of the smartphones starts at $899, while the 6 sells for $599.

Both phones have a 50-megapixel camera and its customer Tensor processor which powers the phone. Google says its Tensor processor uses machine learning to identify voice recognition, image processing and live translations.

Speaking of cameras, Google partnered with Snapchat to quickly access the App’s camera. Users can now quickly tap on the back of the phone, which Snapchat says it’s the fastest way to make a snap. The company even calls the Pixel 6, “the fastest phone to make a Snap” thanks to Quick Tap to Snap Feature.

Google also announced a Pixel feature that makes calling customer service lines less frustrating. It would try to estimate how long you have to wait on hold, so it will now hold on for you on your behalf.

Pixel fold?Leading the foldable market is Samsung’s galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3. Google will have to produce hardware that matches these smartphones in order to compete. One trending hardware feature is the high-end 120Hz screens available on the iPhone 13, Flip/Fold 3 and other flagship smartphones.

The details of the Pixel 6 do not come as a surprise to us. Its specifications and physical looks have been leaked quite a number of times. There was even a video that detailed the smartphone a day before its official launch.
