With the advent of Instagram, came a new breed of social media comedians known as skit makers.

In recent times, the comedy industry has moved from conventional stand-up laugh shows to digitally produced skit content. These new digital skit makers are so creative in their craft that they will leave you rolling with laughter.

However gradually, these online actors are creatively earning their place in Nollywood as they now feature in blockbuster movies.

Samuel Animashaun Perry, better known as Broda Shaggi, is a Nigerian comedian, actor, songwriter and musician.
A graduate of Creative Arts from the University of Lagos, Broda Shaggi rose to fame through his parody drama “Jesu in Mushin“.

Ever since then, the “agbero” talking comedian has become widely accepted by all. Broda Shaggi has starred in movies as a funny character, taking on roles that express his hilarious side such as ; “Fate of Alakada”, “Chief Daddy 2”, “Namaste Wahala” and “Omoghetto: the Saga”.

2. Debo Adedayo

Known by his stage name Mr Macaroni, Debo is a Nigerian, comic skit maker, actor and activist. He is best known for his Instagram comedy videos, where he plays the role of a “sugar daddy”. He is famously known for the phrases of “Ooin” and “You are doing well”.

The ” Freaky Freaky” sugar Daddy character of Mr Macaroni is a gleeful one that makes every user stunned on laughter at his various escapades. He has featured in block buster movies such as  “Ayinla”, “Survivors” “Ponzi”, and most recent “The Perfect Arrangement”.

Michael Sani Amanesi, known by his stage name MC Lively hails from Agenebode, Edo State, Nigeria.

Lively is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, where he studied law and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2016.

He then began his comedy career in 2015, and broke into limelight through his funny skits “Agidi” where he talked about events and real life issues happening in Nigeria.

MC Lively further kicked off his acting career in 2018 movie “Seven and Half Date”. He has gone ahead to feature in  “Fate of Alakada”, “Survivors”, “Breaded Life, “The Razz Guy” , “Introducing The Kujus”, “Dear Affy”, and “The Real Lagos Fake Life”.

Nosa Afolabi, better known as Lasisi Elenu, is a Nigerian comedian from Offa, Kwara State Nigeria. He is known for his skits with a ‘wide mouth’ disguise filter on social media.

He is the creator of “Mama & Papa Gods power”, a series focusing on a low-income household in Nigeria. Lasisi has also featured in “The Ghost and the Tout”, “Made in Heaven” “Sylva”, African Messiah and most recent film “The Razz Guy”.

Joshua Alfred aka Josh2Funny is one of Nigeria’s biggest trendsetters in Nigeria’s creative industry. He started the viral “Gbas Gbos”, “All My Guys Are Ballerz”, and “Think About It” trends on social media.

He portrays several characters which include, Bro Zakius, Tunde Tupac, Agro, Mama Felicia, Juga, Optununu and has an ingenious way of meandering from one character to another

Josh graduated with a Degree in Computer Science at the Federal Science and Technical College (YABATECH), Yaba.

Lizzy then started her career in 2017 with being a comedian. She became a sensation to watch with her intriguing comedy skits online. She also began acting in 2019 and has starred in quite a number of movies. “Blood of Enogie“, “Bread Life“, “Mimi“, “P.A From Hell“ etc.

7. Tomama (DatWarriGirl)

Tomama

Datwarrigirl, also known as Oluwatoyin Albert, is an actress, skit maker, dancer, and comedian.She graduated from Delta State University’s Department of Theater Arts in 2014 with a specialization in the theater.  However, her acting career started in 2017 and since then she has made her way to the top.

DatWarriGirl started her career as a skit maker and her comedic sketches have earned him over 500,000 followers on Instagram. She has worked with various actors such as Bovi, Femibabs, Warripikin, BrodaShaggi, Isokoboi, Topapa, and many others. Akpe: Return of the Beast (2020), Charlie Charlie (2021) and Mighty (2022).
