Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system PCs and Xbox One consoles work pretty fantastically together. The company has done it in such a way that users can even stream Xbox One games on their Windows PCs. If you already use an Xbox One and a Windows PC, then you already have an inkling that this was a possibility.
You may want to try this because you want to explore gaming on your monitor instead of your TV. It could even be because you want to be able to wirelessly stream to your PC. You could eliminate the use of the HDMI cable by streaming. Or you could just be feeling adventurous. Whatever your reason is, these steps will help you.
First, you must note that the Xbox One console and PC need to be on the same network to work. A Windows 10 desktop or laptop will usually come preinstalled with the Xbox Console Companion app. It used to be the Xbox app, but Microsoft is working to turn it into a more detailed gaming dashboard.
In case you do not already have the Xbox app preinstalled, you can download it from the Microsoft store. Once you have downloaded the app, launch it and sign in to your Microsoft or Xbox account — they are usually the same. Now, click the menu button at the top left of the Xbox Console Companion app. Once it opens the list of items, click Connection (it will appear towards the bottom of the list).
Install The Xbox Console Companion App
You can now click Add a device located on the top-middle section of this window. This will prompt the app to search for an Xbox One console in the network. Once it is found your console, you can now click Connect.
Peradventure you are unable to find your console, don’t worry too much. You can enter the IP address of the console in the provided field.
To find the IP address of your Xbox One, open the settings menu on the console. Click Network then Network Settings and Advanced Settings. You will see the column with the IP address. You can then fill it into your PC.
Once connected, the console will show up under the Now Playing section in the Xbox Companion app. If you click the section, your PC monitor will show a direct feed from the Xbox One.
You may experience some delay when you stream and play Xbox One games on the PC, depending on the Wi-Fi network speed. A great way to speed up the stream is to use Ethernet. However, on the Xbox Console Companion app, you can tweak the fidelity of the stream to make it faster. Although, that action may affect the image quality of the game. But hey, it may be better to stream slow-paced games instead of fast action ones.
