Spotify is testing a new button in the app that will encourage people to create more podcasts. It is podcast 0’ clock as the new button has just been spotted. The button which is included in Spotify’s podcasts library says, ‘Create Podcast.’

When a user types the Create Podcast button, they will be transferred automatically to the Anchor app if it is already installed. If the app isn’t installed, it will send the user to the informational webpage about the Anchor app.

Anchor is a podcast creation technology company that was acquired by Spotify early in the year. The app is designed to make it easy for anyone to create podcast right off of their phones. Spotify has been a little low-key so far about owning the app. However, it seems it’s now looking to incorporate it more in its main app.

Meanwhile, Spotify says it is still testing the feature.

In a statement, the company said:

”We are always testing new products and experiences to improve the overall Spotify experience. Some tests will eventually make way for upgrades to our product, others are only tests. We have no further news to share at this time.”

Interestingly, Spotify also has a company called Soundtrap which also recently launched a podcast creation tool. The major difference between Soundtrap and Anchor is the target. Where Soundtrap seems to be a more serious editing software, Anchor is a lot more casual. Soundtrap can be used in a more studio-like setup and for more professional work.
