Spotify Redesigns “Your Library” To Make It Easier To Rediscover Music

Spotify is revamping its “Your Library” section, which has been a bit ill-equipped to handle the streaming service’s vast catalog of music and podcasts. To let users discover saved content faster, the firm is rolling out a streamlined version of the section, which better organizes the collection, making it easier to rediscover previous content and add new music to the library.

The redesigned page will make its way to all users on iOS and Android in the next week; however, content can only be downloaded by Premium users. Until now, podcasts had been placed off in a separate column, but Spotify is changing that by making the entire collection available in one place. New filters let users select between album, artist, playlist, and podcast to view their saved content. If they’re using the offline version of the app, they can select the Downloaded filter to view all locally available content.

Additionally, the app will let users sort content alphabetically, by recently played or by artist’s name. Users can also pin up to four playlists, albums, or podcasts for instant access; and to pin an item, they simply need to swipe right on it. Lastly, users can view content in a large-tiled grid view, which is a tad more visual than the older way of viewing content.

In other Spotify news, Facebook released a miniplayer earlier this week that can stream music from Spotify from within the Facebook app.
