Sonos will launch its own voice assistant alongside a new soundbar, Sonos Ray

Sonos will be launching its own voice assistant alongside a coming product called Sonos Ray; here are all the deets you need to know.

People in the know revealed that the American audio products maker is planning to introduce a voice assistant of its own, while it may continue supporting Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Although, there is no love lost between the giant tech firms and the Sonos.

According to The Verge’s writer Chris Welch, who leaked the news, the software will likely be called Sonos Voice. This voice assistant will join Sonos Radio and Sonos Radio HD as the services the company plans to provide as it supplies hardware.

Sonos Voice will support Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, Deezer, and the above-mentioned Sonos Radio. However, it does not have an agreement yet with Spotify and YouTube Music.

Additional details include a privacy feature that will not record user audio commands or send them to the company’s cloud. Instead, the Sonos product in use will receive the command, deal with it, and that is all.

Sonos Voice will be available in products running on Sonos’ S2 software, which are all products launched from 2020 upward, including the coming Sonos Ray; a budget audio product priced at $250, and it will not come with mics for voice controls.

With Sonos Voice, the company could be nearing its promise of giving customers complete privacy as they have expressed doubt about the protection that Google and Amazon claim to offer.
