Stating that social media users were mean after the release of the first trailer of “Sonic the Hedgehog” is mild. The internet was near brutal as the negative comments kept flooding the net mercilessly. Reactions resulted from the lanky CGI version of one of the ’90s most loved game character, Sonic the Hedgehog. What threw people off the most were his human ‘teeth’, under-stylized body type and widely spaced eyes. Okay, so maybe they can cope with the eyes and lanky legs, but those teeth!
While one could expect the reactions from fans, the reactions from the studio weren’t. Although unexpected, it is good news nonetheless.
A number of people weren’t happy and the studio has listened. The Director tweeted regarding the backlash. He also mentioned how he understood and that the message is loud and clear. He tweeted,
“The message is loud and clear… you aren’t happy with the design and you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount and Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be.”
Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast 🔧✌️

However, he didn’t state what the changes would be, or if it would affect the film’s release.
Just in case you believe people are being overly dramatic, watch the trailer again and tell us what you think.
