Nigerian socialite Obi Iyiegbu popularly known as Obi Cubana has been arrested by the EFCC according to multiple reports.

The businessman arrived at the EFCC headquarters, Jabi, Abuja on Monday, November 1 2021 to answer at the behest of the commission.

According to sources, he was interrogated by EFCC operatives on money laundering and tax fraud crimes.

The source told The PUNCH, “Obi Cubana was arrested and brought to the EFCC headquarters on Monday afternoon over allegations of money laundering and tax fraud. He is being grilled by detectives as we speak.”

Obi Cubana made headlines in July this year when he buried his mother with a stupendous show of wealth and affluence.

The burial of his mother Ezinne Uyiegbu tagged by many as “event of the year” was the talk of the entire country for weeks. Held in his hometown Oba, in Anambra state, the event attracted dignitaries and celebrities.  Singers Davido, Kcee, Dbanj, Kanayo O Kanayo, Alexx Ekubo and singer Kcee were in Oba. Shina Peller, Ubi Franklin, E-Money, BBNaija’s Frood, and others were also in attendance.

Obi Cubana reportedly kicked off his hospitality business in Abuja in 2006 with his Ibiza Club. Following the success of Ibiza, he established Cubana in 2009, a hospitality business that caters to all-around entertainment for guests. He currently owns several hospitality businesses inside and also, outside Nigeria.
