Nigerian socialite Obi Uyiegbu better known as Obi Cubana has been released from EFCC custody, according to reports.
News of Cubana’ release was first broken by his close associate and businessman Valentine Onwumelu on November 2, 2021, via his Instagram page.
“Thank u, Jesus!! @obi_cubana is free. We gat Jesus!!! Dis Dance is for all my fans. I love u all,” he wrote.
Obi Cubana later in the same evening followed up with a brusque post where he said he was “Unbroken”.
“Okpataozueora! I love you all! Unbroken #manoftheyear2021,” he wrote.

The 46-year-old hotelier was invited on Monday, November 1, 2021, to EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. There, he was grilled by operatives over money laundering and tax evasion and abuse of the naira according to sources.
It is understood that he has now been released on administrative bail.

According to a top EFCC source, the commission will try Cubana on these crimes but it won’t be now.
“The trial of the businessman and socialite is not taking place immediately. We will put all things in place before the prosecution begins,” the official hinted.
When asked why the trial is not commencing yet, the source said the EFCC is taking their time to build a strong case against the night-life promoter.
Obi Cubana made headlines in July this year when he buried his mother with a stupendous show of wealth and affluence.
The burial of his mother Ezinne Uyiegbu tagged by many as “event of the year” was the talk of the entire country for weeks.
