This government agency provides programs that cover disability, retirement benefits. It was first created in 1935 by President Franklin D.Roosevelt. For starters, this American agency issues social security numbers to citizens.

Social security is vital for planning income retirement for Americans, a recent report from the Research, Statistics & policy analysis of the SSA shows that in January 2021 almost 70 million Americans received more than $1 trillion in social security benefits. The monies from the Social Security Agency come from payroll taxes of employers, employees, and the self-employed.

Social security numbers serve as national identification numbers that have to be presented to enjoy services such as health, insurance, and credit.  This number also tracks American citizen incomes, track their credit records, and taxes.

It is relatively easy to obtain a social security number for Americans and surprisingly for non-citizens. Simply fill out a Form SS-5 from the Social Security Administration with all the requirements met and the number will be issued at no cost.

Unlike other United States federal government agencies, the Social security agency does not have its headquarters in Washington D.C, it is headquartered in Woodlawn, Maryland.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits are paid to retired American citizens, and the benefits are based on citizen’s lifetime earnings. In order to enjoy this, citizens have to be aged 65 and above with low income or with disabilities. Americans that meet these requirements can apply online, call the agency’s support numbers or visit a local SSA office.

They will have to fill out their work, medical, family, bank, and disability histories.

For (SSDI) Social security disability insurance, Americans have to apply online, after check listing these requirements. Every application for SSI or SSDI benefits has to be reviewed whether applicants qualify to enjoy them; additional information and documentation can be asked to determine eligibility. A major challenge facing the Social Security Administration Agency is Identify theft, with fraudulent citizens cashing out benefits of other citizens.

Unlike technology systems, there are no biometrics, two-factor authentication to verify actual owners of these social security numbers only through documentation.
