Snapchat for web is giving users extra features globally after it was first made available in July. The new features include Chat Reactions, Chat Reply, and Lenses.

The web version of the social media platform is still a new territory for Snap, and it is likely that users will keep getting feature updates for a long times. With more people getting access to it and providing the needed feedback, the platform would see several overalls.

Snap had first made Snapchat for web a perk available for just its paying customers. However, it soon rolled out for just about everyone around the globe.

This ‘non-exclusivity’ is a reason why premium social media subscriptions have failed to make sense since it became a thing. What is the point if the only difference between free users (like many of us) and the one percenters (or lesser) is just early access?

One surprising thing though is that Snapchat already allows calls for users of the web version, even on desktops, while WhatsApp, which has been in the game longer, is yet to overcome that hurdle.

Snapchat for web is available by just going to snapchat.com but, users have to login to enjoy it. This latter part, may still not have the desired effect of adding new users that the company wants.

The no-login-access strategy has worked for YouTube and TikTok for a long time. Perhaps, it is time for Snap to start considering that too? It has since added other ways to enjoy the platform besides chatting with friends, such as Spotlight.
