Sky Sports To Use FIFA Game Chants And Crowd Noises When The EPL Resumes

With the English Premier League (EPL) set to return to action on 17th June 2020 without fans, broadcaster, Sky Sports is working with EA Sports’ FIFA division to create specific chants and crowd noises for each team. This will replace the crowd noises as spectators are unable to attend matches live due to the pandemic.

Sky Sports is also working to bring other innovative experiences to viewers of the Premier League. On its website and in the app, fans can watch “select matches with friends in a video room and interact”. This will allow fans to “influence the crowd noise they hear on screen,” according to the press release.

“With live sport on hold for over two months, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how we broadcast in new ways to bring fans together, even if they can’t meet up to watch the match. We want Sky Sports viewers to still feel it all and have the best possible viewing experience — even if they can’t be in the stadiums or watch with their family and friends,” according to Sky Sports managing director, Rob Webster.

The Premier League had to suspend the competition due to the global pandemic. Although countries around the world are beginning to gradually ease their social distancing guidelines, it is still not safe for thousands of fans to gather.

All things being equal, on 17th June 2020 Aston Villa will restart the league playing against Sheffield United.
