Sinach Makes History, Becomes First African To Top Billboard USA ‘Christian Songwriter’ Chart

Gospel artiste Osinachi Okoro-Joseph AKA Sinach has made history by becoming the first African to top the Billboard Christain songwriter chart globally.

The singer took to Instagram to share the exciting news with her fans.

 

She added the billboard screenshot that showed her name as the number one Christian songwriter for the past seven weeks.

In another post, she thanked her band, family, and friends for their support and love so far.

Other songwriters on the list are Jason Ingram, Matthew West, Lauren Daigle, Chris Brown, Steven Furtick, Jeff Pardo, Paul Mabury, Hank Bentley, and Ethan Hulse.

 

Sinach, music leader at Christ Embassy Church is arguably Nigeria’s biggest gospel artiste.

 

Her hit song “Way maker” gained international popularity so much major gospel artist jostled to make a cover. Micheal W Smith made his version featuring Vanessa Campagna and Madelyn Berry.

 

Gospel band Leeland’s cover, however, saw the song top the charts for weeks on end.

 

In 2018 the visuals for “Way maker” became the third Nigerian the song to garner 100 million views on Youtube, coming behind Davido’s “Fall” and Yemi Alade’s “Johnny”.

 

Sinach was inducted into the Bethlehem Hall of Fame alongside in 2017 alongside Dwayne Johnson, Pope Benedict XVI, and other internationally acclaimed notables.
