Seyi Shay & Tiwa Savage Dirty Fight In Hair Salon; Real Story Behind The Bad Blood

Nigerian music stars Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay have had a frosty a few years now but things came to hilt on June 8th, 2021 when they hurled words at each other and almost got physical.Tiwa Savage Vs Seyi Shay | 234StarThe two singers were literally bodily restrained from getting into a physical altercation when they met at a hair salon.

From the video that surfaced online, they had both met at a hair salon and Seyi Shay had approached Savage to say hi.

But the Tiwa Savage was having none of it as she asked Shay why she thought it was appropriate to approach her with a “hi” after she had dissed her openly referring to the singer and Victoria Kimani’s verse in Kiss Daniel’s 2019 #FvckYouchallenge.

“I’m quiet. I don’t want to respond properly, I don’t want to disgrace or embarass you. You or me because we grown, but don’t think you guys (you and Victoria Kimani] can do what you did…” Tiwa Savage said

You did a whole song, you and that b*tch did a whole song, you went on interviews and said s**t about me and I didn’t say nothing”

“I’m not going to listen to this. You got your facts wrong…” Seyi Shay responds.

Listen, don’t come to me and think you can say hi to me with the dirty and disgusting spirit that you have X2. You think I’ve forgotten what you and Victoria Kimani did how many years ago? You think I can forget?” Savage flings back.

“I have never slept with your man, i have never taken a job from you, I have never gone on radio to say sh*t. You don’t try and squash s**t by saying hi. You try and squash s**t by calling me on the phone and talking about it. If I have an issue, I don’t just walk up to you and say ‘hi’. No”

Seyi Shay in her defense responds by saying; “The only reason why I greeted you is to try and squash all that is going on and to say sorry. I am not going to listen to this because you got your facts wrong.

“Tiwa, how about the things that you have done? You want me to open everything here? I am not like you. I am not going to do that. If you want to start acting up and acting like an “agbaya” right now, carry on.”

“Open it, open it. You’re the one that wants to open my ‘ny*nsh’. Please, open it. Your ‘ny*nsh’ is the dirtiest in this industry. You f*cking hoe, slut! Open it! There is nothing I have done in this life that I regret. Nothing! Everybody knows I am very proud of my sh*t.” Tiwa yells.

She at this point lunges at Shay who retreats. More heated conversations ensue and Tiwa Savage goes on to swear on her son, Jamil’s life that she’s never blocked any of them ( Shay and Kimani) in the industry.

I will say it to you. God should take my child that I birthed, God should take him if I have ever done or said anything about you or Victoria Kimani,” Tiwa said.

She continued, “B*tch, I am made! I have money, I have nothing to take from you. I am not going to be hired for a show and say something else.”

“But you, look at you. You look half-dead. Look at your skin. You know what? For clear skin, you need to mind your business. That’s what will clear up your f*cking ugly skin”

Why there is bad blood…

In January 2019, singer Kizz Daniel began the #fvukyouchallenge with which he used to diss his cheating ex and also some of his colleagues and practices in the industry. The challenge soon went viral as more artists jumped on it. Victoria Kimani and Seyi Shay’s seemed to target Tiwa Savage in their version.

Kimani  referencing ‘African Bad Gyal’ which Savage addresses herself sang;

Grandma African bad gyal, turning 45 and still claiming bad girl.

You can block me from a show

but you can’t block my blessings.

We all know you selling pu*ssy and it’s so depressing”.

Shay in hers sang;

“You say you be my sister, but you wan collect my lover

You be deceiver, olofofo heart robber

Na why I no dey f**k you anymore

I no get time for you anymore

You know I’m not Savage, I dey pay my bills

You no go see my name for the Xscape

But [Prostitute] come be your hobby

Na so you come take first rate their hobby…”

Tiwa Savage did not respond to the diss at that time. Also, there were rumors that the beef between the artists was because of Wizkid. Kimani and Wizkid have been loosely connected in the past and they were strong rumors that Savage and the “Ojuelegba” crooner were dating They’d released a steamy video for Wizkid’s song “Fever” where Savage was the video vixen.

In November 2020 however, Tiwa Savage finally addressed the diss in a  tell-all interview with Ebuka Uchendu on his Black Box platform.

Savage said she was distressed by the dissing because she barely knew Victoria Kimani.

“I was really really hurt with the Victoria Kimani situation. I was really hurt. Like, I know a lot of people came out and fought for me.”

“What about it hurt you?” Ebuka asked

I’ve met her maybe twice or three times in my entire career and I’ve always just been like “Heeey, how are you?” so that came out of nowhere. Like, I was…you know when someone knocks you out.”

“Like I was not even prepared to defend myself. And I always used to tell China who is like a sister to me, she does my hair, I always used to go on her (Victoria Kimani’s) page and be like “Yo, look how she mixed these socks with this skirt”. Like I always used to admire her fashion, like even just the way she does her makeup like she had this kinda Asian I don’t know what it was – it was just cool.

I just felt stupid. This is someone like everywhere I go I would say like oh, fashion-wise, I love how she dresses and I love her vocals. I used to sing “Kimani killing show immediately”. Like, I’ve done snaps of that. So I was just like what happened? Till today, I don’t understand. I don’t get it. I don’t know where that came from. It was bad. She literally called my name in the song and I just got my car and she was insinuating that it was some old man that I was seeing. Ha! You’re in the industry.

I mean, I don’t even think as big as Wiz or Burna or David is they can tell a promoter you cannot put this other person in the show…how? How do I have that power? I’m trying to be on the show. I’ve never even had that conversation with anyone. Man, it was painful for someone I really really liked. That I genuinely supported.

When Ebuka asked where she thought the hate came Savage said she had no idea.

“I still don’t know because I went off. Initially, I thought it was from Kpolo cuz that’s what they mentioned and they were like promoters, promoters but it was only one promoter they were mentioning. Say who these people are, I would personally call them out. Like, who are these people? It can’t be anyone from my team and if it is, that person is getting fired immediately. I spoke to Kpolo and he was just as shocked.

He said no, he never said that. So I still, I really don’t know. Which promoter said that I said that? Or I’ll tell radio stations that they can’t play any other female songs? How? (laughs). A radio station? How? Even if I was Tiwa Adeleke and I had that kind of money I don’t think I have enough money to pay a radio station not to play other people’s records.

So why can’t I stop Teni, or Tems, or Simi or Yemi Alade? Like do you get what I’m saying? I don’t know where that came from. That really hurt. I was in my room just confused for days.”
