Save Time And Effort With Microsoft 365 New Transcription And Voice Commands In Word

To help users save time and effort, Microsoft 365 now offers a new transcription and voice command feature in Word. Here is all you need to know about the new Microsoft 365 feature.

 

Transcribe in Word, is the latest Microsoft feature that allows you listen to conversations and without the distraction of taking notes. All you need to do is record it and then transcribe them later. In fact, the transcription feature that Microsoft Word offers can detect different speakers.

 

Thus, while listening to the recordings later, you can tell who is talking and when. You can edit the transcript as well if you think something is not right. There are many options for users.

 

For example, you can insert a quote directly from a conversation by clicking the plus icon on any line of the transcript. Your full transcript appears in the Word document along with the recording.

 

Additionally, you can upload audio and video recording from your various recording tools. Microsoft Transcribe tool for Word supports .mp3, .wav, .m4a, or .mp4 files.

The company rolled out Transcribe in Word on 25th August 2020 in Word for the web for all Microsoft 365 subscribers and the new Microsoft Edge or Chrome browsers support it. For now, users can only upload five hours of recordings every month and each upload has a limit of 200mb.

By the end of 2020, Microsoft will release Transcribe in Office mobile version. Also, users can only transcribe audio into US English but soon, it will add other languages.

 

Additionally, for those incapable of typing may be due to permanent disability or they are temporarily incapable of doing so; Microsoft offers the Dictate feature for Word users. It is also updating the voice commands library of this feature.

 

Now, users can use their voice to add, format, edit and organise text. It works on both desktop and mobile as well. You can get a list of all the voice commands that Dictate supports in this article.

 

Dictate with voice commands in Word is available in Word for the web and Office mobile for free when signed into your Microsoft account. Voice commands are coming to Word desktop and Word for Mac apps towards the end of the year for Microsoft 365 subscribers.
