It’s important to use sustainable materials in the production process regardless of the actual product. That way we can reduce our carbon imprint on our planet. Apple’s decision to ship its smartphones without chargers was sustainable too.
Interestingly, the “Midnight Black” and “Stratus Sky” bands are made entirely out of apple peel skin ” from the fruit industry,” says Samsung. The four others (“Aurora Night,” “Cloud Navy,” “Earth Sunrise,” and “Dawn Atlas”) use synthetic materials. This material is thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), which Samsung claims is recyclable.
Also, “the neutral Stratus Sky and Midnight Black watchbands transition seamlessly between any outfit – from day to night.” “It has the premium look of leather but is completely vegan and cruelty-free.”
While these are the very first sustainable bands for any of the Samsung Galaxy watches; we expect other smartwatch companies like Apple, Fitbit and others to join the trend.
