Samsung Nigeria launched two new mid-range smartphones in its A-series lineup, the A02s, and A12. The event held yesterday 12th January 2020 at the Tech Experience center at 13, Idowu Martins, VI, Lagos.
The event in part highlighted the cordial relationship between the global smartphone company and Africa’s foremost technology distribution company, TD Africa.
Samsung’s head of marketing, Iretiogo Oke, says the two smartphones highlight its commitment to the Nigerian market; and addresses the core challenges in the market. It said it listened to the market feedback in creating these products.
She said the choice of the Tech experience Center for the event demonstrates its commitment to an already valuable relationship with TD Africa.
The A12 has a 6.5″ screen with an 85.8% screen to body ratio and a 720 x 1600 pixel display. It is powered by an Octa-core (4×2.35 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) processor with a Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 chipset and ships with the Android 10 OS.

On the camera side, the A02s has an 8MP selfie camera and four cameras at the back. They include a 48 MP wide lens, a 5 MP ultrawide, a 2 MP macro lens, and a 2 MP depth sensor.
The Samsung A02s has an identical display to the A12 but has a screen to body ratio is approximately 81.8%. It is powered by a Snapdragon 450 processor and a Qualcomm SDM450 chipset and ships with the Android 10 OS.
The A20s has three rear cameras with a 5MP selfie camera in front. At the back, it boasts of a 13 MP wide lens, a 2 MP macro lens, and a 2 MP depth sensor.
Both phones also have a 5000mAh battery with 15W fast charging and are priced at less than 60,000 Naira. Ireti says this is to specifically address the power challenges in the Nigerian market.
Samsung also unveiled music star Joeboy as its A series brand Ambassador. The phone maker said the artiste fits the dynamism the Series represents and also has a huge following in its target audience.
Joeboy expressed his excitement at representing a global brand like Samsung and will do his best to portray the series in the best light.
