“Nearly one million people have used the Samsung Health Monitor app to manage their health since its initial launch in Korea last June. We’re committed to bringing this innovative health service to more people across the world, and the latest expansion marks a major milestone in our mission,” said TaeJong Jay Yang, Corporate SVP and Head of Health Team, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics.

Users will need to have the Samsung Health Monitor app installed on their Galaxy smartphone and on a Galaxy Watch 3 or Galaxy Active 2 to have the ability to take an EKG or blood pressure measurement.

Samsung says the app update that enables the features will begin rolling out on 4th February 2021. The company however notes that its availability “may vary by market and carrier”.

Samsung says the app had received a CE marking in December 2020. This means that it complies with all the applicable regulations in Europe and can be offered in the European Economic Area.
