She began her musical career in 2003, and she gradually burst into the entrepreneurship gold mine. In May 2019, she became the first woman of colour to create an original brand with LVMH. This occurred after the French brand confirmed it would launch her company, Fenty. The luxury LVMH brand also backs her cosmetic company, Fenty Beauty, which launched in 2017.

Her cosmetics line debuted with 40 foundation shades. It’s today worth conservatively more than $3 billion according to Forbes, of which Rihanna earned $570 million just 15 months after it launched. She also owns her own lingerie line, Savage x Fenty, in partnership with TechStyle Fashion Group. This has been applauded for catering to a range of skin tones and body types.

In a statement released last month, Rihanna said: “Women are forces of this earth. We are multifaceted, complex, vulnerable yet bulletproof, and Fenty speaks to all of our intricacies.”

Her brand is both popular because of her musical career and its inclusiveness. “I want to be as disruptive as possible,” she revealed to the New York Times.

In May, Rihanna told the New York Times that she wasn’t driven by money. She said, “The money means that I can take care of my family. The money means that I can facilitate the businesses that I want to. I can create jobs for other people. My money is not for me; it’s always the thought that I can help someone else or, in the future, for if I have kids.”

In 2012, she founded the Clara Lionel Foundation, which supports health and education efforts in impoverished communities around the world. Also, in February 2017, Rihanna was named humanitarian of the year by Harvard University.
