Regé Jean-Page Reportedly Quit “Bridgerton” Over Disagreements On His Character

According to sources, Regé Jean-Page of “Bridgerton” Season 1 quit “Bridgetorn” over creative differences with the executive-producer, Shonda Rhimes.Regé-Jean Page

News that the Duke of Hastings will not be returning for season 2 of the Netflix hit series was greeted with shock and dismay as he had become a fan favourite.

Now, according to Page Six, Jean-Page walked out on the series over disagreements on his season 2 character.

“He wasn’t happy with what was planned for his character for Season 2, which would have kept him a player but not the focal point of the show, ” a Page Six source revealed.

The Hollywood Reporter also revealed that Page, 31 was offered $50,000 per episode to appear as a guest star. Regé Jean-Page however turned down the offer for “a multitude of reasons’.

Jean-Page’s relationship with socialite Daphne Bridgerton, played by 25-year-old Phoebe Dynevor was the high point of the series. His steamy portrayal surely will be missed, as his first-season appearance led to some memorable, meme-worthy moments.

The Shonda Rhimes-scripted series, based on the best-selling novels by Julia Quinn, started filming for its sophomore season in March 2021. New cast members will include “S*x Education” star Simone Ashley, 25. She will play Kate Sharma, a new Londoner who pops up as a potential suitor for Daphne’s eldest brother. Anthony will be played by 32-year-old Jonathan Bailey. Season 2 will focus on the love affair of another Bridgerton.
