New Redmi Note 12 smartphone can charge full in nine minutes

Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition can charge from zero to 100 in just nine minutes.

On paper, the coming Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition can charge from zero to 100 in just nine minutes, thanks to its 210W HyperCharge fast charging standard.

The midrange smartphone is joining the company’s Note 12 lineup and could be the fastest charging phone in circulation if it beats others to the market. However, the device will offer a 4,300mAh battery, which is not as strong as the 4,500mAh and 5,000mAh offerings of its rivals.

Besides the fast-charging specialty, the Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition also has a 200MP lead camera backed by an 8MP ultrawide sensor and a 2MP macro lens. Also, its main camera can use its 12.5MP or 50MP resolution for quicker shots in low-light.

Apart from the Discovery Edition, there will also be a Note 12 Pro Plus which stands out for its 5,000mAh battery offering but which is incapable for the 210W fast charging capability. Then, there is is the Note 12 Pro which offers a 67W charging cap and the vanilla Note 12, which uses a 33W charging.

The first three devices are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1080, which equips them with powerful photography and video processing capabilities. They are also 6nm chips, which makes them download faster and offer improved power efficiency. Meanwhile, the vanilla variant is equipped with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC, which is also a powerful processor.

All the smartphones in Redmi Note 12 lineup have OLED displays of 6.67 inches and 120Hz refresh rate of 1080 pixels. The Verge reports that the company may launch the devices in China on October 30 with a price range of between NGN140,000 and NGN250,000.
