Real Wives Of Atlanta Star Nene Leakes Loses Husband To Colon Cancer

Real Wives of Atlanta reality star Nene Leakes has lost her husband Gregg Leakes. Gregg Leakes Dead: NeNe Leakes' Husband Was 66 – The Hollywood Reporter

Leakes died of colon cancer on Wednesday, September 1 2021 at the age of 66.

“Today, the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife NeNe Leakes,” the couple’s rep said in a press release.

It continued, “We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family and allow them to mourn in private during this very, very difficult time.”

Greg Leakes was diagnosed with stage colon cancer in 2018 but it went into remission 6 months after chemotherapy treatment. However, Nene announced June this year that cancer had unfortunately returned.

Over the weekend, she shared on her social media that her husband was losing the battle against cancer.

“I’d love for everybody to pray for Gregg. That would be beautiful. Pray for his strength,” she wrote at the time, adding, “And pray for me too.”

The couple first married in 1997 but divorced in 2011. However, they reconnected and remarried in 2013. Nene and Gregg Leakes shared a 22-year-old son, Brentt.

Few days before his father’s death, Brentt had shared an emotional message on his Instagram, encouraging people to create memories with their loved ones.

“Spend time with your loved ones every chance you get. Time is so…valuable dog. I can’t express it. I’m learning the hard way watching my dad fight every day. Please go create memories with ya people.”
