Qualcomm has announced two new chipsets — Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 — for midrange smartphones. Here are some details you should know about them:
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip is a 4nm processor that offers a clock speed of about 2.2GHz. It features a 64-bit architecture and an Adreno GPU. The chipset supports 5G connectivity, which means that even mid-range devices could start getting the new high-speed internet connection. It works well with Wi-Fi 6E standard and supports Bluetooth v5.2.
Additionally, it supports a 120Hz refresh rate on full HD+ displays. Then, there is the fun part of its unique Qualcomm Spectra triple 12-bit ISP that makes it capable of powering 200MP cameras and shooting 4K videos at 30fps.

For gaming purposes, the chipset brings HDR gaming at more than 60fps. The AI capabilities are also quite good with the inclusion of the 7th Gen Qualcomm AI Engine and the 3rd Gen Qualcomm Sensing Hub.
Meanwhile, Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC is a 6nm processor with eight Kryo cores and a clock speed of about 2GHz. It too can deliver 5G connectivity, although it will be sub-6GHz.
The chipset is equipped with a Qualcomm Spectra Triple ISP tech that can perform 108MP single shots. It also supports full HD+ displays of up to 1080×2520 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The chipset company says that the both of them would come out in 2023 with Motorola claiming to have a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC phone on the way early in the year. iQoo has also confirmed that it has a smartphone coming towards the end of 2023 that will be powered by Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC.
