Qualcomm Launches Three New Snapdragon Chipsets Processors For 4G Smartphones

Late on Monday 20th January 2020, Qualcomm makes another attempt at improving 4G-enabled devices with new Snapdragon processors. The American multinational semiconductor and telecommunications equipment company released the Snapdragon 720G, 662 and 460 processors.

At a time when many tech firms are in the race to own major shares of the coming 5G market, the company is looking at improving 4G tech. This is not to say that Qualcomm is not also invested in 5G. It had declared in December 2019 that 5G will enter the mainstream in 2020. Also, it had mentioned shipping more phones and PCs that can operate on the innovative network.

However, it is clearly not giving up on the 4G market potential, especially in India, with these latest releases. Making the announcement on Twitter on Tuesday 21st January 2020, Qualcomm posted:

Indian phone companies like Realme and Xiaomi have mentioned that their 2020 devices will use these Qualcomm processors.

Each of the new chipsets brings new enhancements to 4G devices. As Android Headlines highlighted, the 720G Snapdragon chipset is a gaming enhanced addition. It will provide smooth HDR gameplay, spectacular color range and contrast. Also, realistic and high-quality gaming experience.

Qualcomm has equipped the new Snapdragon 720G processor with Spectra 350T ISP. This enables users to take up to 192-megapixel photos and capture about 4K video.

Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 662 chipset is going to support triple cameras because of the Spectra 340T it comes with. The 460 will offer improved processing speed that was only a dream in the former 400-series chipset releases. With this, users can buy cheap smartphones and still enjoy high-end fast processes.

Also, while the 720G processor will use the Snapdragon X15 LTE modem, the 662 and 460 use the Snapdragon X11 LTE modem. Although no official release date has been announced there are speculations that it will be available this year.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G will likely come first in Q1 2020. And Snapdragon 662 and Snapdragon 460 devices may arrive before the end of 2020.
