Prof. Akin Abayomi Announces Sixth COVID-19 Death In Lagos

The Lagos State Commissioner of Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi has confirmed the sixth COVID-19 death case in the state.


It is a case of a 52-year-old man who had returned from the United States, Prof. Abayomi announced on Twitter.

As of April 13, Nigeria has recorded 343 coronavirus cases in 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Abayomi said the patient died of coronavirus complications in a private hospital.


However, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also announced on Twitter that the State Isolation facilities discharged four more patients including an 11-year-old on Saturday, 11th April 2020.


Meanwhile, Out of the 19 states affected by Coronavirus, Lagos State has the highest number with 189 cases. The state is now being described as the epicentre of the outbreak in Nigeria.


Yesterday, President Muhammadu Buhari while addressing the nation extended the lockdown in Lagos, FCT and Ogun state by another 14 days.


President Buhari also expressed concerns that despite the nation’s best efforts, coronavirus cases have doubled since the lockdown especially in both Lagos and the FCT hence his decision to extend it till April 27.
