Presidential Villa On Lock-Down As More Governors Test For Covid-19
The presidential villa Aso-Rock is under partial lock-down to help curb the spread of the Covid-19.
Special Adviser to The President On Media Femi Adesina revealed this in an interactive session with state house correspondents on Wednesday. He said Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings are suspended till further notice due to the size of the gathering.
“The council was suspended because of the size. You have over 50 people seated in the council chambers whenever the meeting holds and that is not advisable at a time like this,” he said.
This measure became necessary after Chief of staff to The President Abba Kyari tested positive for coronavirus. There’s been growing concerns for his health and that of the President Buhari. Vice-President Osibanjo also took the test and the results was negative. He’s however gone into isolation alongside his close aides.
On the situation of things at the presidential villa, Adesina said:
“Well, things are a bit on a low key, it doesn’t mean that the State House is shut down, it’s just that things are a bit on the low key just like the rest of the country. The rest of the country is also on a low key, there is partial lock-down in most parts of the country. So, what is happening at the State House can also be called a partial lock-down but not a complete lock-down.”
When reporters inquired about the health of the president and if his result was truly negative, his asked “what did you hear about the result?” to which the reporter responded: “They said it’s negative.”
Adesina replied: “Good. So that calls for rejoicing with him. Anybody that does the test and test negative, we will rejoice with that person”
