Governor Wike declared #EndSARS protests within his state will not hold but the people said NO.

The tenacity and determination of Nigerian youths is a definitely force to be reckoned with. Since the #EndSARS protest began, youths have defied fear for their lives, abandoning their jobs and business to lend their time and energies to the struggle.

Yesterday, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike banned protests from taking place within the states. According to Governor Wike, the government had already granted the wishes of protestors. Hence, he didn’t see any need for protests within his state again.

The Rivers State Government hereby wish to inform the general public that all forms of protests have been banned throughout the State.

Therefore, all proposed protests under #EndSars Campaign are hereby prohibited.” he wrote on Twitter.

Natacha Akide of Bbnajia wrote:

Despite the explicit order not to protest, a mammoth crowd of gathered today in Rivers State in protest against police brutality.

They sang solidarity songs as they marched along the streets of Port Harcourt demanding for their voices to be heard and the end of police brutality for all Nigerians.

They continue to demand for police reforms and justice for people who died unjustly in the hands of FSARS and other police units.
