PlayStation App Update Brings New Voice Chats, Party Groups, Improved UI And More

On 28th October 2020, PlayStation announced an updated PS App that introduces players to improved gaming experience. In general, the idea behind the update is to provide smoother experience.

The updated PS App is created for both PS4 and PS5 users. This is an expected development as the gaming company plans to start selling its next-gen PlayStation 5 consoles in November 2020. Your device must be running on either an iOS (12.2 or later) operating system or Android (6.0 or later) operating system for you to use the new PS App.

Some of its key features are as follows:

— A new redesigned user interface (UI) that has a home screen where you glimpse what your friends are playing. Also, details about the games you have played recently and your Trophy List are available on the home screen.

— Your PS Messages app will be integrated with the new mobile application. This allows you to seamlessly send and receive messages in one place. This means that there will be no longer a standalone app called ‘PS Messages app’, instead, messages and threads from the old app can now be found in the newly updated PS App.

— It introduces a party groups feature and voice chat that connects you to a maximum of 15 other friends. Since the party groups feature is new, you can send feedback to the PS developer team.

— The app works with the PS Store to provide faster and smoother downloads, shopping and browsing. You can even download games remotely to your PS4 and PS5 consoles.

— The PS App will enable you remotely launch PS5 games. Additionally, you can manage storage on your PS5 from a remote location. This feature is important because you may need to clear up space when trying to download a new game.

— Lastly, you have access to an Explore tab where you get official news from game developers and PS Blog posts as well.

You can start using the updated app now ahead of the official PS5 sales to get acquainted. New users who don’t have the PS App can create an account for PlayStation Network here.
