Peruzzi Shares Why He Split His New Album “Rum N’ Boogie” Into Two Halves

Singer Peruzzi has just released his fourth body of work “Rum N’ Boogie”. Marking the release, he joins DJ Cuppy on Africa Now, on Apple Music Radio to talk about the album.


He also spoke about Davido’s influence on his work ethic and music and why he decided to split “Rum N’ Boogie” into two halves.

Speaking on Davido he says, “I lived with David for two years, and I can tell you he doesn’t sleep. Me meeting Davido, thinking ‘okay, this guy has already achieved now, he’s supposed to play and supposed to chill,’ and then he is in the studio till 7:00 AM, 6:00 AM. I’m like no, I just knew that okay guy, the higher you go, the more you have to give, you get me. And that’s what drives me, till today.”

On why ‘Rum N’ Boogie’ comes in two parts of a total of 20 tracks, Peruzzi says, ““The rum part is for like all the emotional songs, the love songs and stuff. And then, the boogie part is basically what people have not seen me do before, like me trying new things. Your up tempo days all the way straight to the club.”


Peruzzi real name Tobechukwu Victor Okoh is a singer, songwriter, and performer. He kicked started his musical career with Golden Boy Records in 2016. He later got signed to getting signed to Davido Music World( DMW) in 2018. This change of record labels brought a rift between him and Golden Boy management with both threatening with lawsuits. Peruzzi found his big break by featuring in the song “Amaka” alongside 2Baba. He’s gone on to release other hits including “Majesty”, “Lagbaja” and more.
