A conversation on tipping was sparked off recently on microblogging app Twitter and soon, people began sharing their worst experiences in Nigerian restaurants.
Some of the experiences are hell-raising and some are just really funny. One Twitter user shared how a rat jumped from the AC unit unto a customer’s head while another shared they asked him to go and come back later as they were busy.
Take a look at some of the most intriguing we curated.
Was at the Mr Biggs on Ijaiye Road in Ogba sometime last year buying scotch eggs at the counter. Saw a rat the size of a puppy leisurely stroll out of the kitchen, have a look around and stroll back in.
The kind of huge rat you usually see in gutters.

I remember once in the conference centre in OAU , we ordered jollof rice and we were waiting for almost 30 mins , then they came back to tell us , that they need to go to the market to buy tin tomatoes if we can give them some more time 🤣

I went to a restaurant in lekki, saw fly in my food (I read somewhere to salt your food heavily before sending back the plate, so you know if the same food was returned to you).
So that’s what I did, drowned it in salt.

Before orchid bistro renovated. My Boy @Muna_Ob and I went to there to normal brunch. A few mins in, two of the biggest rats I’ve seen were rotating between the ACs, eventually landing on a woman’s head. I literally screamed. They now came and sprayed insecticide. I was confused

Not bad service, just funny exchange.
Me: May I have some Ice
Waiter: The ice is not cold
Me: huh?
Waiter: The ice is not cold, should I bring it like that?
Me: *confusion*…You mean, water?
Waiter: No
Me: *curious*… bring it.Apparently, Lagosians call Smirnoff ice, Ice.
