Parler CEO John Matze Says The Platform Will Be Back Online Soon

Parler, the social media platform popular with American right-wing users that was taken offline appears to have its website back online. The platform’s app, however, is still offline.

The company’s CEO John Matze posted a short message on its website after it came back online. Matze’s message; “Hello world, is this thing on?”. Matze posted the message on Saturday, 16th January 2021. The message featured above a note from the company saying the platform would be restored after a resolution to its challenges.

“Now seems like the right time to remind you all — both lovers and haters — why we started this platform. We believe privacy is paramount and free speech essential, especially on social media. Our aim has always been to provide a nonpartisan public square where individuals can enjoy and exercise their rights to both. We will resolve any challenge before us and plan to welcome all of you back soon. We will not let civil discourse perish!” Matze said.

Both Apple and Google had suspended the Parler from their Stores, effectively making it unavailable. The app is still unavailable for download on both the Google Play store and app store.

After that, Amazon then suspended Parler from its web hosting service, effectively taking the site offline. The web hosting service said the platform failed to moderate “egregious content” related to the 6th January Capitol riot.

Parler was able to register with host sharing website Epik after Amazon Web Services’ decision to shut it down thus there’s at least some hope for it to come back online. This is further bolstered by his announcement that the site was able to recover its data from Amazon.

Matze later told Fox News in an interview that the site would be back online soon. “I’m confident that by the end of the month, we’ll be back up,” Matze said on Sunday night.
