“Omo Ghetto ( The Saga)” Bags Dubai Film Award

Nigerian comedy “Omo Ghetto (The Saga)” has bagged its first international awardOmo Ghetto ( The Saga) Bags Dubai Film Award

The META Cinema Conference in the United Arab Emirates has awarded crowned “Omo Ghetto (The Saga)” Africa’s highest-grossing film of 2020/21.

The new lofty feat was announced by its co-producers FilmOne on Instagram on November 1, 2021.

“We are super excited about the latest accolade won by Omo Ghetto: The Saga, as Africa’s highest-grossing film of 2020/21, at the just concluded META Cinema Conference, in Dubai, UAE.

The award is sponsored by COMSCORE, an international box office data collation company, and official data partners of the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN).”

They also thanked its directors Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband JJC Skillz for their trailblazing creativity.

The comedy film also has the most nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) with three nominations including the Best Actress and Achievement in Editing categories.

“Omo Ghetto (The Saga)” became J Nollywood’s highest-grossing movie of all time in January 2021. The 2020 comedy film broke a four-year record formally held by Kemi Adetiba’s film, “The Wedding Party”. The film is a sequel to 2010 “Omo Ghetto”

Meanwhile, the film follows the tale of twin sisters leading separate lives. However, they reunite by a series of dramatic twists.

It stars Funke Akindele in the dual role of Ayomide and Lefty. Tina Mba, Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello, Chioma Akpotha, Bimbo Thomas also feature in the film.

Others are Eniola Badmus, Deyemi Okanlawon, Zubby Michael, Mercy Aigbe, Timini Egbuson and also, Alex Ekubo
