Nokia reported this morning, 12th June 2020, that it has appointed Marco Wirén as its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and he will start working for the company officially on 1st September 2020. Marco Wirén will take over from the current CFO, Kristian Pullola when he steps down from the position.
Kristian Pullola had joined Nokia in 1999 and had since then risen through the ranks of leadership at the company. He was the Senior Vice President, Group Controller for Nokia before he officially became CFO in 2017.
Marco Wirén himself is experienced in the role of Chief Financial Officer. He had served in that capacity with three different major companies and currently, he is the President of Wärtsilä Energy and Executive Vice President of Wärtsilä Group. Wärtsilä is a company focused on smart technologies and lifecycle solutions in the marine and energy industry.

Commenting on his new appointment at Nokia, Wirén had said:
“Nokia is one of the world’s iconic global companies and I am excited to be joining as the 5G era gets fully underway.
“I have deep respect for the company and its culture and look forward to helping create value for shareholders and other stakeholders in the years to come.”
This is not the only change that Nokia is undergoing in leadership at this time. The company is also getting a new Chief Executive officer, in the person of Pekka Lundmark. Lundmark will take over from the current Nokia President and CEO, Rajeev Suri.
Pekka Lundmark had been appointed back in March 2020 and he too is expected to start his role on 1st September 2020.
However, both Rajeev Suri and Kristian Pullola are not leaving the company immediately. Suri for his part will continue to serve as an advisor to the Nokia Board; while Pullola will stay until Marco Wirén’s smooth transition is complete before leaving.
