As part of its Nokia Innovates initiative, the company in a partnership with Softbank Corp. reveals the importance of 5G technology when it comes to car safety. Learn more about this here and see other projects that Nokia is undertaking.
The companies explained that when vehicles are able to communicate with one another, they can avoid collisions. Vehicle crashes, especially cars are threats to human life.
According to a National Safety Council report, an estimated 38,800+ people died as a result of car accidents in 2019 in the US. A World Health Organization (WHO) research says; the number of annual road traffic deaths has reached 1.35 million people in 2018.
To reduce this figure greatly, SoftBank Corp. and Nokia suggest that connecting cars via high-bandwidth low latency 5G networks is the answer. It will enable high-speed data transmission between cars. Thus, allowing vehicles to know location information between moving vehicles.
With this in place, the collaborators say that road travels will be much safer. This will be even more effective in the connected car market that is becoming a popular facet of vehicles today.
