Expecting and new mums can now workout to their hearts fill as Nike introduces its first-ever maternity collection. The capsule collection named Nike (M) features a stretchy sports bra, tank top, tights, and jacket. It will launch in Africa, Europe, and North America on September 17th.
Carmen Zolman, Nike senior design director for apparel innovation, shared in a statement:
“The more we listened to expecting mothers and postpartum mothers, the more we learned, reworked, and innovated through inclusive design.
It’s the project of a lifetime to work in lockstep with all kinds of mothers to bring to life a capsule that truly supports women’s relationship with sport during such a transformative time in their lives”
During the production of the capsule collection, Nike spoke with nearly 30 female athletes who were pregnant or postpartum to share their unique experiences and perspective.

One such athlete is former British track field athlete and wife to Ex-BBNaija housemate, Mike Edwards.
She shared
“Pain is temporary, and I feel like I’m going to take that mentality throughout when I’m giving birth. The pain I’m going to be going through is a step closer to meeting my son, and that’s the positive affirmation I’ll be saying to myself when I’m breathing. It’s the same way I dealt with pain during sports rehab. I told myself, ‘It’s one step closer to where I want to be, [back on the track].”
Speaking on the Nike ( M) capsule collection she said:
“The Nike (M) sports bra is great because it’ll give me easy access for when I want to breastfeed. The leggings give you options of wearing over your tummy or showing your tummy, and the maternity shirt has this extra material for the extra weight that I’m carrying. You look very smart, very comfortable, very hip”
