Nigerian Singer Slim Joe Dies At 30 From Kidney Disease

Upcoming Nigerian musician, Joshua Olonitan, professionally known as Slim Joe is dead. The singer died on Sunday 2nd January after complications from a kidney-related ailment. He was 30 at the time of his demise.

The “O ti Yan Yan” hitmaker was reported to have been seeking ₦15million for urgent medical intervention before he passed on.

In an interview with The PUNCH on November 2021, the singer had said he had been diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease since November 24, 2020, and had been advised to go for a kidney transplant.

Slim Joe, who hails from Odo-Ayedun in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State had been on dialysis for some time.

A relative of the deceased Kayode Jegede also confirmed Slim Joe’s demise on Facebook with a touching tribute.

“I lost a cousin, Joshua Olonitan aka, Slim Joe of Oti yanyan fame. Aburo, it is painful to lose a good brother like you to death at your prime of fame and age. You made an impact in the world with the very short time you lived. You were such a brilliant boy growing up then. We shall all miss you, ” he wrote.
