MultiChoice Nigeria has announced that the sixth edition of Nigerian Idol, will commence on 14th March with a pre-show. The company broke the news on Thursday 18th February at a virtual media briefing to officially unveil plans for season six of the show.
The show kicks off with a special airing of the most memorable moments from last year’s auditions. The main episodes will air weekly starting from 28th March at 7 pm on Africa Magic Showcase, Urban and Family.
Speaking during the session, Martin Mabutho, MultiChoice Nigeria’s chief customer officer, said the sixth edition of the show will offer unique and entertaining content for the viewers.

Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, Africa Magic’s channel director, revealed that over 3,600 entries were received.
“We believe that this season’s Nigerian Idol will produce a fresh crop of talent. Talents who will be well-grounded to conquer both the local and global music scene. This year, we received over 3,600 entries. I thank our outstanding judges for painstakingly reviewing every participant to ensure we got the best from the pool of entries,” Mba-Uzoukwu added.
Seyi Shay, DJ Sose, Obi Asika will serve as the judges with IK Osakioduwa, enlisted as the host.
The show will be available in the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Australia, and 23 other countries via online streaming service, Showmax. This year’s edition will mark the return of the show after about a six-year hiatus.
