The 35-year-old American is the fastest of the pair, as he found great speed and mounted pressure on the Nigerian champion. Masvidal nullified takedown attempts by the Nigerian, landing multiple shots with beautiful accuracy.
Sadly, that was not enough. Usman exerted constant pressure onto his challenger. Constant clinch work from the Nigerian defender saw Masvidal weary with no breaks before multiple strikes.
A huge slam takedown from the Nigerian fighter, Usman, was arguably the highlit of the match solidifying his onslaught against Jorge Masvidal.
The final two rounds saw Usman shut down Masvidal. With an improved record of 17-1, the Nigerian UFC champion crowned his victory with his 16th winning streak.
“Jorge is a tough guy and I give him credit for that. They call him ‘Gamebred’ for a reason – he’s always game to fight. I’m just a level better. I have more tools in the toolbox” said Usman at the end of the match.
