Nicki Minaj has called out Grammy Recording Academy shortly after the announcement of the 2021 Grammy Award nominations. The rapper decided to take to Twitter and reflect on her journey with the annual award show. In particular, the 37-year-old looked back on a specific year when she felt snubbed by voters.

“Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on Billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade went on to inspire a generation. They gave it to the white man Bon Iver. #PinkFriday.” She wrote to her 21 million followers.

Justin Bieber also spoke his mind on his Instagram page. While he wasn’t nearly as critical of the Recording Academy as Nicki has been, the singer questioned his recent nominations.

Changes was and is an R&B album. It is not being acknowledged as an R&B album which is very strange to me.” He wrote.
