New iPhone 14 leaks show disappointing battery life details

The latest leak about the upcoming iPhone 14 shows that while battery life is still not getting better, and the most expensive variant may not be worth investing in.

As is always the case around this time, the new iPhone will be the most talked-about topic in the tech industry. Also, it is not surprising that in 2022, you cannot still enjoy Apple’s smartphone without a power bank.

Courtesy of a Baidu posting obtained by Forbes, iPhone 14 battery capacity will be as follows:

  • iPhone 14 – 3279 mAh
  • iPhone 14 Max – 4325 mAh
  • iPhone 14 Pro – 3200 mAh
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max – 4323 mAh

All (except the iPhone 14 Pro Max) represent fractional improvements on their corresponding iPhone 13 predecessors. Meanwhile, for the Pro Max, what we see is a downgrade. While it may seem minor, it isn’t. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is expected to be the most powerful iPhone ever made, and this means that it will be processing more data than others. With a smaller battery, it will be draining faster than customers would like.

Although we usually advise that readers take leaks with a pinch of salt, this leak is quite different. The post has been removed on Baidu, and enthusiasts are taking it to mean that it contains some element of truth. If this proves to be accurate, the standard iPhone variant and the Max may well be better options than the Pro versions.

Once again, it seems that Apple does not yet have the claim to the Android battery technology. Even with A16 promising performance optimisation, it is hard to see how long a 3,200mAh battery can last on a phone with music playing in the background and social media apps updating at the same time.
