Elon Musk Says Neuralink Human Trials Could Start In Six Months

Elon Musk has said that the first official human trials for his Neuralink tech could begin in six months time, that is around May or June 2023. The company has already submitted all the necessary paperwork to move on to humans to the Food and Drug Administration.

In a livestreamed video on Wednesday, November 30, the tech billionaire hosted a show and tell where he revealed some details about the tech powering the company’s innovation.

A monkey with an implant was shown typing the phrase ‘welcome to show and tell’ by focusing on highlighted words and letters. The video also showed a clip of the monkeys charging the devices as they have been taught by sitting on the charger.

In addition to that, a pig was showcased on a treadmill and the researchers at Neuralink said that its implant helped them study the pig’s mobility and how it can help solve human mobility problems. Other problems that the tech could help solve includes impaired vision and other medical conditions linked to the brain and nerves.

Musk mentioned that he too would be getting an implant of Neuralink devices in the future. He described them as threads, which are flexible and 64 of them can be implanted in a person’s head within 15 minutes.

However, despite the progress that is ongoing at the company, Starlink is still in the market for talents. It is not clear why it is so difficult to recruit enough hands as it has been trying to do since 2019. Perhaps, it has to do with the accusations that the company was treating its animal subjects poorly. An accusation that it has refuted several times, including this new video of how it takes care of its test subjects:
