Naomi Campbell Speaks On Rising In Spite Of Racism

In an interview with BBC Africa, supermodel Naomi Campbell talks about the reason a campaign she did was rejected. She talks to BBC’s Mayeni Jones about how one of the countries in Asia rejected the pictures because of her skin colour. The supermodel was on a visit to Lagos, Nigeria to attend the annual ARISE Fashion Week.


Described as ‘the most beautiful runway in Africa’, ARISE Fashion Week was birthed over a decade ago. Also, it is seen as the most prestigious platform to showcase the best of Africa’s Fashion and music.




In her interview with BBC, she stated that her picture wasn’t used because of the colour of her skin. In addition, Naomi Campbell speaks about how baffled she was because, “ironically”, she has that “gene” in her family. She also mentions her favourite designers.
