Mixer Reveals Next Step After Microsoft Abandons It For Facebook Gaming

Microsoft had left the Mixer streaming platform in its new partnership with Facebook gaming, now, Mixer has revealed what it plans to do next. In a blog post on 22nd June 2020, the company revealed that it is not actually closing shop just yet.

While many enthusiasts and fans had seen Mixer as Microsoft’s weapon in its tussle for game streaming dominance against Twitch; this hope will not reach fruition now as the giant software firm has chosen to instead continue the race with Facebook’s game streaming arm.

Mixer says that the deal with Microsoft and Xbox ended because it could not measure up with the gaming community’s vision. In its own words, it writes:

“It became clear that the time needed to grow our own livestreaming community to scale was out of measure with the vision and experiences that Microsoft and Xbox want to deliver for gamers now.”

However, while the ‘operations side of Mixer’ is closed, the platform is not just cutting off its users. Instead, it is working with Facebook Gaming to transition its users to its platform. Additionally, partners of Mixer will also have ‘partner status’ with Facebook Gaming in its deal with Microsoft. To see your Mixer status on Facebook Gaming, go to Facebook/Mixer.

Also, Mixer’s streamers, who are in its open monetisation program, will also be eligible for the Facebook Gaming Level Up Program. This will enable them monetise their streaming on the new platform in no time. If you have a Mixer viewer’s account when it was still with Microsoft and Xbox, you can find your account on Facebook Gaming as well.

In addition, Mixer Partners will get double-payment for all their earnings for June 2020. If you have outstanding Ember balances, channel subscriptions, or Mixer Pro subscriptions, you will get an Xbox Gift Card credit. Until 22nd July 2020, the Mixer service will run after which, it will redirect visitors to Facebook Gaming.
