Microsoft To Release Text Prediction Feature For Outlook On The Web This May

Microsoft aims to roll out a new text prediction feature for Outlook on the web that will make typing faster and easier.

According to Microsoft 365 Roadmap, this feature should be released this month. It is already available for Gmail users both on the web and on the mobile app version.

Once it becomes available, users get text predictions from the Outlook software while they type. This will be like what smartphone users get when they use keyboards that support text prediction.

However, the predictions will be showing on the typing template instead of in the keyboard space. The Verge reports that users can accept the predictions by tapping the tab key or the right arrow on their keyboard.

But you can ignore the suggestions if it does not pass the message they want, and just keep on typing. This will be useful in certain instances where one gets stuck on short replies to a mail or closing remarks to use.

Predictive text technology has always been helpful and if it is well-tailored, it will likely learn common words or phrases that an Outlook user uses often and suggest them.

In addition to this, there are also reports that Microsoft may roll out a “send later” feature as well. This too will come to Outlook on the web first before being considered for the mobile app version.

With the send later feature, Outlook users may be able to schedule emails ahead of time. This will be useful in many circumstances.

For example, if there is a lot of emails to send around the same time, you can opt to compose some and schedule them for the appropriate time. This will lessen the load when you have to type the rest. Users should expect the send later feature in June 2020.
