Microsoft Teams Announces A 50 Per Cent Increase In Daily active Users
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, at an earnings call, revealed that Microsoft Teams now has 115 million daily active users. This represents more than a 50 per cent rise from the 75 million that Microsoft reported almost six months ago at the height of the pandemic.
Microsoft recorded huge growth in Microsoft Teams usage at the start of the pandemic, and it hasn’t looked back since. The company still falls short when compared to Zoom. however, it is difficult to make that comparison.
This is because Zoom and Google report daily active participants, meaning that a single user could be counted multiple times if they participate in different meetings one day.

Google had reported 100 million daily active participants earlier in 2020 while Zoom says it records 300 million daily active participants.
Microsoft had also been steadily improving Teams throughout the pandemic, thus increasing its daily active users. It launched a new Together Mode for pandemic-era meetings. The mode allows meeting participants to sit virtually next to each other. It proved even useful for the NBA as they used the feature for basketball games when the games resumed.
Microsoft also Teams promised features like breakout rooms by the end of 2020. Nadella also said at the earnings call that LinkedIn now has 722 million users. Microsoft had been growing LinkedIn and it has been adding to its revenues since it was acquired for $26 billion in 2016.
