Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella during an earnings call revealed that Teams is now recording more than 75 million daily active users. This a 70 percent increase from the about 44 million daily active users that Microsoft reported in March 2020.
Nadella also said Microsoft Teams saw 200 million daily active users in a single day in April 2020. This compares favourably with Zoom’s figure of 300 million daily meeting participants earlier in the same month.
“As COVID-19 impacts every aspect of our work and life, we’ve seen two years’ worth of digital transformation in two months,” Nadella said.
The CEO also boasted that Microsoft Teams is the only tool that combines meetings, calls, chat, and collaboration on one platform. This is because it integrates with the rest of the Office 365 cloud suite.
He notes that two-thirds of Teams’ users are interacting or collaborating with files inside the app. Microsoft also reports three times the usual amount of organisations that are integrating apps with Teams.

Nadella highlights that Teams is preferred among healthcare and educational institutions. He says that there were more than 34 million healthcare-related Teams meetings in the past month and more than 183,000 educational institutions are also using the service.
The global pandemic has made video conferencing and online collaboration tools largely popular.
Zoom reports about 300 million daily active users, however, it’s dodgy in communication which throws the figure into doubt.
Slack on its part reported 9,000 new paid subscribers on its app in March 2020. Its daily active user count was 12 million as of October 2019.
Microsoft’s boss named large organisations like the NFL, which used Teams for its draft and Accenture which is the first organization to have more than 500,000 users on Teams.
“More broadly, we continue to see momentum with organizations across Microsoft 365,” Nadella said.
